Each elder who comes to live at Blue Ridge is observed over a weeks long process to help with integration so that we can learn their routines and determine all the needs that are present. We actually refer to our staff care positions as "Lifetyles," as we see them as the most valuable asset in determining the most accurate lifestyle for each elder.

We like to think of the care of the elders in terms of the layout of our building. To maximize orientation, our facilities are arranged with a living room in the center and just one straight hall that travels from one end of the building to the other, passing through the living room so that one can see the entire building at once. There are no turns or second floors to create a feeling of isolation.
