Assisted and Intensive Assisted Living

For many, the need for care has been slowly increasing over numerous months or years. Although some independence may remain, the need for additional care is often only a short time away. BRCH is equipped to provide lighter, residential and custodial care, or more intensive personal care, while providing a high level of comfort, cleanliness, and assistance. Depending on the need, all elders are provided a partial bath every morning, help with dressing and grooming, regular incontinence care, a full shower twice per week, scheduled bathroom breaks, meals with snacks and hydration between, the enjoyment of dining together with friends and family, and a comfortable chair brought from home and placed in our warm, inviting living room where all activities and events take place.

Nursing Home or Assisted Living?

Nursing homes are necessary for those who have a need for 24 hour nursing care such as ventilator/feeding tube dependency, intravenous therapy, or uncontrolled pressure or surgical wounds. If these conditions do not exist, Blue Ridge Christian Homes is a great alternative to a more costly nursing home stay. We are proficient at handling medication administration, toileting, bathing, feeding and end-of-life comfort care. Our personalized program provides a consistent routine and peaceful environment that is highly effective in assisting those with memory issues.

Bathroom

For those in need of bathroom assistance or incontinence care we incorporate scheduled bathroom breaks throughout the day.  Our program of care extends the ability to physically use the bathroom as long as possible and avoids prematurely cutting off this basic of human dignities.  The benefits of maintaining bathroom functioning help with mobility and strength, skin health, and improved quality of life.

Bathing

We incorporate a partial bath daily and a full shower or bath twice weekly into the routine of every elder who is need of bathing help.  Our goal is always provide the hightest level of hygiene and grooming so that everyone looks and feels their best.

Call Bells

With only 36 elders living with us and a simple floor plan on one level, help is never far away.  Our call bell response times are only a few minutes at most. For those who, for physical reasons or those with cognitive impairment, our program of care that utilizes utilizing a schedule of bathing, bathroom breaks, meals and activities assures that no one goes without the care they need. 

Post Rehab

After an injury or illness that facilitates a stay in rehab, a medicare release due to a lack of measurable progress is sometimes premature with more time needed to gain minimal functioning for independent living in the home setting.  BRCH can help fill in for a time until more functioning returns by providing the right combination of assistance, safety, and freedom of movement to enable the best opportunity to improve and become independent again.  Although BRCH does not provide rehab services on site, third party, home-health agencies in the community can visit multiple times per week with only a physician order needed to get started.  Additionally, our program of care that helps with  routine bathroom breaks and frequent movement from the bedroom to the living room and dining room, provides a significant benefit by helping to avoid immobility that occurs if confined to a bedroom space for an extended period of time.
